I guess I can't say that anymore. Today I received a $25 gift card for IHOP in the mail. I WON a drawing!!! I vaguely remember a recent trip to IHOP (the day we closed on our house we ate there) where I filled out a form and put it in the entry box by the door, who knows why. BUT I am glad I did! I WON!!!

My most awesome Christmas present...by accident
Well this is kind of a long story but isn't that way blogs are for? Here goes. Kay had asked me to help with holiday baking but then retracted her request because we moved just two weeks before Christmas and thought that I would have too much on my plate. Well, little does she no that I don't actually know how big my plate is so I always pile on a lot to make sure! :) Any way, I said, "No way, I'll be fine!" So I was given the task of making Peanutbutter Balls or for some Buckeye Candy. A double batch! So Jeremy helped me in my endeavor, he actually rolled most of them out while I toothpicked them. Later I dipped them in chocolate and bagged them up. The day we were getting ready to leave, things were hurried and I am sure you can see where this is going...I ENDED UP LEAVING THE PEANUTBUTTER BALLS IN THE FREEZER and didn't realize it until we were half way there. So I texted Steve, who is the real fan of them and he told me to either go back and get them or not show up :). While we were still yet on the road, Kay and Steve went to the store and made ANOTHER batch to replace my forgotten ones. They too made a double batch and in the process fried Kay's mixer. SOOOOO on Christmas we had nothing to make mashed taters with, so Kay called her mom and asked her to bring her mixer. She did. During the making of the mashed taters it came up that the mixer was far more than Grandmommy needed and if Kay wanted the mixer she could have it, I of course chimed in that I "needed: a mixer as well, just joking. Making a long story longer, Kay decided that she would get her own mixer and gave me Grandmommy's! Now, we aren't talking about any Sunbeam mixer from Wal-Mart. We are talking about (hear the heavenly angles singing?) a KitchenAide!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I am sooooo pumped, I've always wanted one but never had the counter space or extra dough (hehe pun intended!) YEAH! So maybe it is good to be forgetfull. Remember if I hadn't forgotten the PB Balls in the first place Steve would have never had to make his own and blow out Kay's forcing her mom to bring hers to Christmas dinner for mashed taters, confessing that she doesn't need that big of a mixer, then I revealed my hearts true desire for one. BAMMMMM Here it is on my counter! I am counting my blessings for a GREAT Christmas with Family, mashed taters and a new KitchenAide!

WOW its been awhile I guess
Well I looked at the last date of my blog and saw that it was in Nov and here it is the middle of Dec. Lots has happened!
1- We are buying our first home!!! YEAH!!! e-mail me if you want the address.
2- Caleb is be 20 MONTHS later this month!! He can say Pizza, he knows where most of the basic body parts; although his belly button is still his fav, he knows what his Bible is when we get it out for bedtime stories, he can get off of our bed unassisted with out killing himself, he can feed himself with a spoon (for the most part), he tells us when he's pooped "I pooped" its the cutest seriously, and he can say A & B but hates to go on to C.
3- I started my own photography business for some extra cash and it has really taken off. I am too cheap to really do much advertising so I've jsut been putting up Craigslist.com ads and its gotten me most of my work! You can check out my website at momentsphotography.info

Video Time
Caleb is a little parrot these days but retains tons as well. He is adding new words all the time. I tried hard not to prompt him into it, see for yourself
Caleb as always been one to just enjoy his time in bed. Even as an infant I would find him just hanging out waiting for someone to find him. The other day he was chillin so I grabed the camera and was filming him for minutes before he noticed me :)

My son the cutie!
Several things have been going on in our house lately. With the leaves falling and holidays approching I got the bug to bake, Jeremy was super upset ;) We made puttpy chow (Caleb was not a fan at first but now I can hardly stop him from gobbling it down) and peanutbutter balls. Its funny two seemingly totally different items share striking amounts of the same ingredients. TONS of PB, choclate and powdered sugar! All that adds up to a lot of dirty bowls and spatulas; which calls for a lot of licking!

Camping
Sometime back we were given a "two man" tent. If any of you have seen on of these you know it really means a toddler tent. Ours had been in storage along with most of our stuff but I snaged it during a recent trip to our storage unit and thought it might be fun for Caleb to play in. I set it up in the living room yesterday and it showed me that yes we have a small living room. I moved it to Calebs room last night and he played in it and we even had bedtime stories in it. I had the brainyiac idea to let him sleep in it; knowing that if he doesnt like it in the middle of the night I would be in trouble if his mattress was in the tent it would not be a quick move back into the crib. So today I pulled the mattress out and put it in the tent for nap time. We'll see how that goes.

he's a big boy now
Last night I was so excited when I picked Caleb up from the nursery at church.
His regular classroom was dark and a sign was posted to take him to another class when I dropped him off. It was an older classroom. He has been a little hesitant when I drop him off but he usually chippers up within minutes and plays fine the entire time he is in there.
When I picked him up I gathered the usual garb, backpack, cup and his extra diaper. As I was turning to leave the teacher said, "Oh dont forget his picutre." A PICTURE!?!?! Caleb has never made a picture before! I am sure I looked like a total dork and I know there will be millions more to come, but this is his first and I am sooo proud of him.
Now I know he didn't trace any of the shapes, cut them or even put the glue on the leaves but I bet he put them down on the tree. And for that its ART!!! I love my boy!
I scanned it for everyone to enjoy!

My newest baby!!
I have been saving and saving and saving. I have wanted a Digital SLR for sometime now. I have a reg digital camera and film slr but I wanted a Digital SLR to really get back into photography. I had saved up almost $800 for a camera. I was getting ready to go shopping in the stores for my camera. I knew I'd really only get a camera body and probably a 18mm-35mm lense. I have recently discovered Craigslist.com and came across the most AWESOME find.
A guy had a 10 megapixel cannon rebel with the reg lense, an extra 75mm-300mm lense, THREE batteries, TWO memory disks (adding up to 6g of memory), TWO professional grade bags, a charger, card reader, a very nice flash and all the orginal packaging. All for a price just out of my savings range.
I e-mailed him anyway to find out if he'd come down and he DID! I got almost 2k worth of equipment for much much less than that!! I would have NEVER gotten all of this just going to Best Buy!! I am soooo pumped. So if you need any family pics taken, LET ME KNOW- I'm back in the game!
As any proud mama here is a pic!

I KNOW I AM QUARKY
My friend Sarah tagged me in this e-mail awhile back and I forgot about it until today but over the past few days several of my quarks have come out in life so this is perfect timing!! I challenge anyone to find better quarks than me!
Here are the rules, link back to the person who tagged you. List the rules on your blog. Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of your own and tag 6 "unsuspecting" bloggers to complete. Pretty simple, eh? Until you get to the 6 unspectacular quirks of your own.
Here are mine...
1. I eyeball my food before I eat it. Take Funoions for instance, I like the bags with the windows because I eat all the broken ones first, then the whole ones. Popcorn is another great example; I like to look for the butteriest ones or biggest ones first.
2. I organize my closet in color coordination. Not just like colors together but in RAINBOW order. ROYGBIV and I often recite the saying to myself to know where a shirt goes.
3. I eat everything in evens. Today my husband gave me M&Ms and he handed me 3, I asked him to get me one more and he gave me 4. I seriously got rid of one. When I eat my pringles, I check to make sure I have an even amount of chips. When I am finishing up my cereal, I spoon up the cereal in even pieces.
4. I get ready in the SAME order every morning. Pee. Shower; Shampoo, rinse, Conditioner, wash my face, shave, body soap, rinse body, rinse face, rinse hair. Towel off. Put contacts in-LEFT eye first then right eye. Blow dry hair. Pick clothes out. Get dressed. Put facial lotion on. Brush teeth (now I also brush Caleb's teeth at this time). Put on makeup. Put on earrings. Ready to go.
5. I wash dishes in the same order. Cups. Silverware. Plates. Bowls. Pots & Pans.
6. When I am ordering food at a restaurant or usually order the same thing every time at each restaurant. Any Mexican place; two tacos, beans no rice. Diner type places; Turkey Club with fries. If I am making a choice and there is a choice between two items; which ever one is cheaper is what I order.
I am Sick huh?
I don't know if I have 6 blogging friends that check my site but I'll pick these and see how it goes Jillynn, Jeremy (I dont think he'll do it), Crystal, Kathryn, Mary and Amber.

Still Learning
I have recently become aware that I cant let Caleb fall asleep for his nap time in the car. Even if he is dead to the world when I get him out of the car by the time I get him up to his room he is usually waking up a bit and by the time I have him in his crib and I am out the door he is awake and just doesnt go back to sleep. NO MATTER how long I leave him hopping he'll get tired and go back to sleep he NEVER DOES. Today I got quite a site when I finally went back in to get him up after a long attempt to get him back to sleep this is what I had found.
Now normally I dont put in to bed in just a diaper but today we had been at the park playing and eating lunch and his clothes were quite dirty and in an effort to not get his bed completely dirty I took is clothes off when I changed his diaper and hoping he'd go to sleep never gave a thought to what his mind might imagine while he lie there away. But did I learn what a 17 month old is capable of.

Almost 17 months and counting....
Caleb had a rough week to say the least. We found a pediatrician and luckily she said his ears were beautiful and wants to wait it out and see how this winter goes before putting tubes in his gorgeous ears. That's fine with me. However he is cutting many many teeth, which is making him a bear. On top of that he decided to hit the terrible twos several months ago and is still in the brunt of it. However, Jeremy says today when he was playing with a DVD case he said "Veggie" And to many of my families delight yes he was playing with a Veggie Tales case. There you go. Other than the sleepless nights he gave us this last week, he continues to be a joy to watch as he dances to ANY music he hears, loves to laugh hard and enjoys exploring new places. Which is GREAT b/c we are in a new nursery every week as we search for a church home. Everyone tells me what a pleasure he was to watch when I pick him up so its good to know he's only bad for me ;)

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY Past due
So many great things have happened in our time here in Wichita and many of them are post worthy but I always forget by the time I am sitting here. I hope I can remember it all.
First, we went to 99 cent burger night (a cherished college tradition) three weeks ago and got dinner for Jeremy AND myself for 7bucks. I was so totally pumped. UNTIL.... the next week when we got dinner for $3.21!!! WOW I love this place!! Nothing can really top this.
Caleb is adding many words to his vocab. He can clearly say "GO", Jeremy swears he said "Howie" tonight during Deal or No Deal. I also began teaching him a bit of sign language before he was even one. He caught on to "All done" right away but never seemed to pick up on "more" "hungry/eat" and "thristy" But he has been motioning "more" a lot and did it at MOPS the other day for the care giver. And tonight he did "hungry/eat"
I know this is not everything great but Caleb is crying so I gotta go!

Finally Settled
There still are more boxes lying around that I would like but we finally have the computer set up and the tv hooked up to a few channels. Caleb is adapting fairly well to the changes. His new favorite toy is a beachball. He wakes up in the morning first thing he says is "Baaaallll Baaalllll Baaaaallll" and points to where he left it the night before. We've also been going for walks/bike rides in the mornings to get to know our neighborhood better. The first morning we ended up a bit further away that I anticipated but we eventually made our way back home. Here are some pics from today. Enjoy!

The BIG MOVE
Just to let everyone know that I will be MIA for the next few weeks. We are shutting off the internet here at the house tommorow and packing up the computer to
get ready for the BIG MOVE!! We will still have access at the church and where ever jeremy can pick up a signal on his laptop while we are traveling enroute.
So I will be in every now and then but it will be sparse. If you really need me call me or jeremy.
Thanks
Melissa
PS-my e-mail and cell number will not be changing! See
you on the flip side!

Awesome Website
Many of you have received postcard size pictures from me. My Baby shower Thank Yous, Our Christmas Card 07 and Caleb's Birthday Invites were all from a website called Vista Prints. I have also used this site for address labels and an address stamp. They do great work, have lots of templates, are pretty quick about getting the product back out and have deals all the time. Anyway I am posting a refer a friend link that helps me get credit when you place orders. Check it out the next time you need any cards printed, business cards of any kind or address labels.

Kids say the darnest things
These are some great things that kids have said. Hold on to your seat for the last one!!
MELANIE (age 5) asked her Granny how old she was. Granny replied she was so old she didn't remember any more. Melanie said, 'If you don't remember you must look in the back of your panties. Mine say five to six.'
STEVEN (age 3) hugged and kissed his Mom good night. 'I love you so much that when you die I'm going to bury you outside my bedroom window.'
BRITTANY (age 4) had an earache and wanted a pain killer. She tried in vain to take the lid off the bottle. Seeing her frustration, her Mom explained it was a child-proof cap and she'd have to open it for her. Eyes wide with wonder, the little girl asked: 'How does it know it's me?'
SUSAN (age 4) was drinking juice when she got the hiccups. 'Please don't give me this juice again,' she said, 'It makes my teeth cough.'
DJ (age 4) stepped onto the bathroom scale and asked: 'How much do I cost?'
MARC (age 4) was engrossed in a young couple that were hugging and kissing in a restaurant. Without taking his eyes off them, he asked his dad: 'Why is he whispering in her mouth?'
CLINTON (age 5) was in his bedroom looking worried. When his Mom asked what was troubling him, he replied, 'I don't know what'll happen with this bed when I get married. How will my wife fit in?'
JAMES (age 4) was listening to a Bible story. His dad read: 'The man named Lot was warned to take his wife and flee out of the city but his wife looked back and was turned to salt.' Concerned, James asked: 'What happened to the flea?'
TAMMY (age 4) was with her mother when they met an elderly, rather wrinkled woman her Mom knew. Tammy looked at her for a while and then asked, 'Why doesn't your skin fit your face?'
The Sermon I think this Mom will never forget.... This particular Sunday sermon...'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a
rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust...' He would
have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening
leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four year old
girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

HE WALKS!!
We have been away from Caleb for the day on a youth trip and when we got home tonight I put Caleb up on his feet and away he went! Not so great at turns just yet and sometimes when he falls he still thinks crawling is faster and easier but he walked all over his room, down the hall and all over the living room tonight. We got plenty of footage!

Randomness
I thought I'd better check in with all of my loyal readers. I am here in Oklahoma for a family vacation. Caleb and I are enjoying spending time with Nanna and Papa (Jeremys parents). We love the weather (except its been rainy), we love the resturants (Dinks & Sonic), we love the people!
The day we left to come down I managed to get Caleb into the doctor, he'd been acting funny and pulling at his ears. Yup, he has yet another ear infection and is on antibodics. And now has and apt with and ENT when we get home because he's had several infections recently. Other updates are that Caleb has taken a few independent steps of his own. He is learning how to safely go down the stairs, as dad already taught him how to get up the stairs I figured he needed to learn how to go down before he FALLS DOWN. I also found tooth number NINE waaaay in the back of his mouth.
I am feeling better. Sore throat every so often. The big dissapointment is that my tastebuds are messed up. Dr. Pepper just doesnt taste the way it used to. I have lost several pounds on top of what I have already lost earlier this year from being sick so often with reoccuring throat infections. Now, not much of my clothes are fitting these days. A great problem to most but some of the clothes I just wont replace b/c some were work clothes that I just dont need anymore but are nice to have for church or nice occasions. I am not complaining but its frustrating to have all your clothes look dumpy on.
Jeremy is at home all alone for the week. Stop by or give him a call if you can. Bring a jacket I am sure he has it COLD since I'm not there.
Anyway that is the 411 on us.

Sadness
I just received some sad news. My OB/GYN Dr. John Murphy died Sunday morning. This is the doctor I've been seeing for 6 years now and he delivered Caleb. He was an amazing wonderful doctor. He could always make me laugh, even when I was huge and uncomfortable climbing up on the table waiting to hear Caleb's heartbeat. The crazy thing is I just saw him two weeks ago, I knew that I wouldn't be back to the office because we are moving from the area. But I am still saddened all the same that his life has been cut short. I will post a link to the newspaper article and there are many community posts about his passing. He had a huge impact on thousands of lives. I don't know if he knew the Lord or not but maybe his untimely departure from this world will cause many more to stop and think about their future and eternity. I pray that you will consider your own eternity if you aren't sure what will happen to you after you die.

One the Road Again
Well, most of you know that we are once again moving this summer. AND once again are not exactly sure where it is we are moving. We have a couple of locations on the horizon and we are just trying to figure out where God wants us to be.
This move is exciting and scary at the same time b/c we really feel God calling us to do something different from what we've ever done before. Its crazy in all of this unknowing we have such a peace that this is where its at and we are heading the direction we should be, even if we arent sure what direction it physically is yet. I'll keep you as updated as I can. We are hopeing to know more by the end of the month.
Our summer is already jam packed so fitting interviewing into the mix has proven difficult but we'll manage.

If anyone knows me they know that....
I LOVE Oklahoma! I am very excited that we have a trip planned in about three weeks for a family wedding. And since we don't get to see family all that often Caleb and I get to stay for an extra week and a half to hang with the fam! Jeremy has to get back for church and we will miss him while we have fun in the sun!
In honor of this hallowed occasion I have created a countdown ticker to mark the occasion of our departure
well I cant seem to get the ticker to work so I'll be back to fix this later...

I was a brave girl
Yesterday I had my tonsils out. And for many of you who had them out as a child may be surprised to know that this is now a 30 min procedure and outpatient. I walked myself into the hospital at 8:15 and walked myself out (Jeremy was getting car) at 12Noon. Crazy huh! There were kids all over getting their tonsils out too so when I heard the doctor giving his speal to the boy next door about flavored air, balloons and stickers I asked where mine where when he came to my room. They gave me these two stickers and choc late air!!!
Once we got home I slept most of the day away as the anathesia wore off, luckily Caleb was with some friends from church and Jeremy was able to go get some work done at the church. By night time I was feeling okay other than pain in swallowing. When I finally took some pain meds it was for a headache I had already had before I went to the hospital. So I think I am doing well so far.

The time is set
Thursday is the day and during the Nine O'clock hour it will begin. I will be going under the knife.... to have my...tonsils taking out. I am excited to not have sooooo much strep and tonsilitis but I am not excited about the rough couple of days after the surgery. Did you know that its outpatient and will only last 30 mins? Crazy!
Last post I mentioned that it had been awhile since I had posted, which you know if you read this and there hadnt been anything in awhile. I rambled on about some updates for the Littles but didnt metion the fact that we are again moving this summer. No ideas just where yet but we know that God is moving us on once again. We would appreciate your prayers as we discern exactly what God has for us in the upcoming days. And I'll try to keep you up-to-date on our where-abouts!
But for me, for now I am getting plenty of paper and pens handy as I wont be able to talk as much but will just have as much to say :)

Its been awhile
Well, I guess its almost been two weeks since I've blogged. Tons has been going on to keep me busy but not much to blog about at the same time. Where to start....
First, I got tonsilitis last week and went to an ENT doc and he scheduled me to have them out on the 22 of May so maybe I wont get so sick all the stinkn' time but on the upshot of that I think I lost another 5 lbs last week from being so sick throwing up what I had eaten and not being able to try to eat anything else. Now I am down I think 20-25 lbs of my pre-preg weight- which is AWESOME other than none of my clothes fit and we dont have the budget to buy new ones but I am fitting into some that I havent worn in quite awhile!!
Second, Caleb took his first steps yesterday (5/12). He was wearing overall and I was holding on to him but the straps and when I let go he kept going until he realized I wasnt holding on but he did take several big steps on his own. Now Jeremy wants to see him stand upright on his own and take steps before he will count it. But as a mom, I'll take what I can get! He's still not eating a lot of table food but he's making progress by not throwing all of it on the floor, he loves the sweets! And we have the night time bottle almost done with, now if I can just get him to drink milk from a cup during the day.
Anyway thats a little something from me, Enjoy!

Two Houses to give some thought to....
The Story of Two Houses . . .
House #1
A 20 room mansion (not including 8 bathrooms) heated by natural gas. Add on a pool (and a pool house) and a separate guest house, all heated by gas. In one month this residence consumes more energy than the average American household does in a year. The average bill for electricity and natural gas runs over $2400. In natural gas alone, this property consumes more than 20 times the national average for an American home. This house is not situated in a Northern or Midwestern 'snow belt' area. It's in the South.
House #2
Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university. This house incorporates every 'green' feature current home construction can provide. The house is 4,000 square feet (4 bedrooms) and is nestled on a high prairie in the American southwest. A central closet in the house holds geothermal heat-pumps drawing ground water through pipes sunk 300 feet into the ground. The water (usually 67 degrees F.) heats the house in the winter and cools it in the summer. The system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas and it consumes one-quarter electricity required for a conventional heating/cooling system. Rainwater from the roof is collected and funneled into a 25,000 gallon underground cistern. Wastewater from showers, sinks and toilets goes into underground purifying tanks and then into the cistern. The collected water then irrigates the land surrounding the house. Surrounding flowers and shrubs native to the area enable the property to blend into the surrounding rural landscape.
HOUSE #1 is outside of Nashville , Tennessee ; it is the abode of the 'environmentalist' Al Gore. He received a Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts related to so-called 'global warming' and thinks he is a 'leader'.
HOUSE #2 is on a ranch near Crawford , Texas ; it is the residence the of the President of the United States, George W. Bush. He is broadly reviled by so-called 'liberals' as being dumb and not a good leader.
The story of two houses proves that both men have been wrongly judged.
Indeed … an 'inconvenient truth'.
